Intermediate Kanji introduces 667 new characters that are often found in newspaper articles and more specialized reading materials, including the 500 basic characters covered in the first series which are reviewed and incorporated into the course work. Excerpts from major Japanese newspapers and various publications in different subjects including science, technology, politics, education, and psychology help students to learn new characters that are necessary for everyday reading, and to develop their vocabulary.
