Horiyoshi III got married in 1983 (1983 translates to the 58th year of Showa under the Japanese system, hence the title). All of the characters drawn on this book are of heroes taken from ancient Japanese myths. It speaks to his great genius that Horiyoshi was able to create all of these beautiful drawings using only a simple Japanese brush pen.
