Shonkhonil Karagar is a 1973 novel by Bangladeshi author Humayun Ahmed. It is also a book that was made into a popular movie in Bangladesh. The book was made into the 1992 film with the same title, starring Zafar Iqbal, Champa, Doli Johur, Abul Hayat, Suborna Mustafa and Asaduzzaman Noor. It was filmed in 1992 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Humayun Ahmed was born on 13 November 1948 in Kutubpur, Mymensingh. He was a Bangladeshi writer, dramatist, screenwriter and filmmaker. His father was was killed during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Ahmed got his breakthrough with his debut novel Nondito Noroke in 1972. He wrote over 200 fiction and non-fiction books, all of which were bestsellers in Bangladesh. Ahmed's writing style is characterized as magical realism. Ahmed's books were the top sellers at the Ekushey Book Fair during the 1990s and 2000s. He won the Bangla Academy Award and the Ekushey Padak award for his contribution to Bengali literature.
