More than 49,000 entries including proper names, abbreviations, trade names, and loan words from foreign languages, in addition to common everyday vocabulary. Entries and definitions cover specialist, slang, and taboo or vulgar words and senses. Furigana readings of all kanji are given in hiragana immediately above the respective kanji characters. Yoon and sokuon are indicated in smaller hiragana. When a kanji or kanji compound has two or more readings, priority is given to the one considered more common. American spelling is given priority.
