Utawaga Hiroshige (1797 1858) was one of the last great artists of the Japanese Ukiyo-e tradition. His world famous woodblock prints influenced a whole generation of modern painters because of the uniqueness of perspective and form. The walls of Monets house at Giverny were covered with prints by Hiroshige and other Japanese artists.
