Gregory of Rezzori was born in Chernivtsi on May 13, 1914. He spent his childhood in Bukovina and temporarily in an Austrian boarding school. In 1934 he studied painting in Vienna and debuted during the war with entertaining prose. Gregory of Rezzori's books are usually entertaining in the best sense, marked by wit, irony, and keen observation. Therefore, he was also successful as an author in radio and with illustrators.
