Duchamp as Curator

Duchamp As Curator is the product of the Duchamp symposium at the Daimler Art Collection, Berlin, in April 2017. Presented are eight chapters from the attending authors and Duchamp scholars providing a comprehensive look into Duchamps unorthodox use of curatorial practices to redefine his own art along with others of the time. Critical and extensive examples of his publications, photographic documentations, layout of art magazines, and his ground breaking exhibitions with the American Modernism, Dada, and Surrealism movements support his process in this amazing publication. While deliberately distancing himself from the artistic norms of the time, Duchamp shattered the concept of curatorial practice of the time. According to the pointed thesis of the symposium and the publication, Duchamp was one of the first artist curators, thus decisively influencing the reception of his work along with the development of contemporary exhibition practice.
