Hans Schabus: The Last Land

Twenty-five year old Hans Schabus represented Austria at the Venice Biennale in 2005--and stole hearts from all over the world--by building the Austrian Pavilion a Darth Vader-like mountain fa ade. His craggy black exterior was as unfriendly as its interior was charming, with labyrinthine staircases up to the summit where viewers were granted skylight views of the sea and the city.
