Produced by the Pelizaeus Museum in Hildesheim, this extremely beautiful book contains a catalogue of 269 objects collected from international museums, including many in China, to illustrate an exhibition entitled `China: Cradle of a Civilisation'. Each object is illustrated in colour and extensively described. As well as this, however, there are 212 pages of articles by leading authorities on all aspects of ancient civilisation in China; from Neolithic ceramics to Medicine, from jade to astronomy. Each article is again extensively illustrated in colour. A wonderful book, unfortunately with a German text.
