Born in 1945, Jean Nouvel earned a place for himself amongst the very best in modern architecture with his Nemasus residential building, the Institut de Monnde Arabe in Paris (both in 1987), the Lyon Opera House (1993), the Cartier Foundation in Paris (1994) and the Galeries Lafayette in Berlin (1996) The concert hall in Lucerne was opened in August 1998. This book documents the building and is seen through the eyes of the architect himself. Jean Nouvel took the photographs especially for this publication. In the essay, "The Exact Representation of a Will", Jean Nouvel reflects on his creative process, and the publication is completed by plans of the building.
