This volume is a comprehensive review of the economics of urban transportation. It presents mutually consistent models of demand, cost, pricing, investment criteria, and industrual organisation, so that they can be combined to describe equilibria of the entire urban transportation system under various policies. Models are described with genuine empirical content and international data is used to demonstrate how the models can be applied. Attention is paid to models of congestion and highway investment. The author goes beyond standard congestion models by incorporating people's choice of timing for their trips.
