Description:
The sixth fascicle of the second volume of the Lexikon zur byzantinischen Grazitat (LBG) is the next step of this on-going publication. It includes most of the words beginning with p. The large number of entries under this letter is due to the numerous verbal composita beginning with the rich prepositions pa?a-, pe??-, p??- and p??d- (the latter two often reflecting uncertainties in the manuscripts or obsolete editions). Rivalling these in number are new words beginning with pa?- or p??s-. In addition, one comes across a considerable number of words borrowed from Latin, especially from papyri, documents and technical texts (law, military science, etc.) as well as words of Slavic or Oriental origin. Since the release of the fifth fascicle, a number of new editions have been published that had to be taken into account for excerpts or quotes. The most important of these (since they are not quoted suo loco in extenso) are found in a supplementary list of abbreviations, along with those of the fifth fascicle.
