This book covers the various immunological aspects of the lung allograft. It includes both basic definitions of the types of injury to the lung from the time it is harvested and implanted to the longterm sequela. The chapters are arranged to address the effect of ischemia-reperfusion, acute rejection and infections. It addresses our current understanding of chronic rejection and obliterative bronchiolitis. The final chapter discusses the possible mechanisms of chronic irreversible graft dysfunction and the animal models currently available to study it.
