Description:

The first Atlas designed for pilots that allows you to see immediately where you are in relation to the airways structure, airports and objects on the ground. The cartography includes mountain ranges, lakes, rivers, major highways, railways, cities and towns. It covers United States, Canada, Mexico. Base cartography is the US Road-Atlas 1: 2.000.000 which includes mountain ranges, lakes, rivers, etc. . As well, all other elements such as cities and towns. Parks and points of interest or historic value and of course, the railways and motor-ways themselves. To this, we have added all airports in USA (over 5,500) and colour coded them by runway length /surface and category , ie. International, Regional, Civil/Military, etc.. Additionally, Special Use Airspace are also shown making our new "Pilots' Atlas" the first of it's kind. The increased use of RNAV and GPS coupled with the advent of ACAS has made more direct routing possible resulting in a savings of time and fuel and more efficient utilization of airspace. This has begun the move away from flying along established airways creating the "Free Flight" concept where aircraft are cleared direct to their destinations. There are also navigational aids (VOR/DME, ADF), waypoints, VOLMET frequencies and restricted airspace shown. The Atlas includes political maps, distance and VOLMET broadcast maps, satellite pictures, and a city map section with 11 cities. The Captain's Corner, 46 pages, contains a variety of aeronautical information such as: ICAO/IATA airport directory, world aircraft registrations, weather section, JAA planning minima, conversion tables, airport signals and much more.
