Functional Modeling Systems (Studies in Cybernetics)

Introduces some new paradigm variations, providing a general systems approach applicable to all phases of system definition and all types and levels of systems. This "conceptual prototyping" approach calls into question the common assumption of information systems modelers that the data have a more stable structure than the procedures (functions). The new concepts are accompanied by a "structure-flow" chart which combines the features of various charting methods and captures many aspects of systems that other methods miss.
