Commissioned to photograph a crucial area of human activity, the 16 contributors to this stunning edition Clinic have documented specific aspects of the world of hospitals, disease and treatment, the human body, experimentation and suffering. In each case the photographic approach was documentary, yet aimed at the same time to raise deeper questions about the world of science and medicine, treatments and cures, historical practice, medical observation and aesthetics. With little text beside introductory comments, each participants work is generously reproduced in full-page, colour images and focuses on specific aspects of the subject matter.
