Roger de la Fresnaye
Description:
This book is a compilation of the works of Roger de la Fresnaye, a French artist who died in 1925 from the effect of wounds received in the first World War. His production was so small compared to other giants of the arts and unless his work was brought to the forefront, he might be temporarily overshadowed. He was an aristocrat of an ancient Norman lineage and his noble art is as aristocratic as his name. An unexpected opportunity to study this artist was offered by the first retrospective show given in this country by the Arts Club of Chicago in 1943 followed by recognition at the Phillip's Memorial Gallery in Washington, DC. This book details his work over the span of 15 years.
