Newell Convers Wyeth (1882- 1945), better known as N.C. Wyeth was an american painter and illustrator. During his lifetime he painted upwards of 3,000 pictures and illustrated over 100 books. From the early age of 20 his first commissions were for stories in prominent American periodicals including McClure's, Outing and Scribner's Magazine. This soon led to him being in demand from book publishers illustrating many classic books such as Treasure Island, Robin Hood, Rip Van Winkle and Robinson Crusoe.This large format book features a selection of beautifully reproduced examples of Wyeth's earlier work from novels and magazine stories.
