The Wisdom of the Ancients, written by Sir Francis Bacon, first published in 1609. Is series of mythological fables and figures, and how they relate to in a wider representation of forms and processes, largely surrounding natural philosophy. Each motif has a description, and an explanation portion, and makes a good reference guide for students of mythology, the history of natural sciences, alchemy and the like.
