Follow Me On This
Description:
I am a Black woman poet; the declaration/clarification is necessary. But where and who I am now is not where I started 10 years ago. Locations, loves, lessons-everything changed. In the last decade, the song of how this Black woman held it down and held on, became a battle-cry instead of a lullaby. Those years, these poems chased/birthed/illuminated changes I wasn't always ready for. But I knew this was a true journey, so I breathed deep, bound my wounds, and kept moving. (And in the words of my poem FLOW, "looked damn good while I was doing it". Just sayin'). FOLLOW ME ON THIS is a Black woman poet at crossroads. Singing. LOUD. Wit/loss/ magic/ truth/homage. Necessary information. Those 10 years re-built me, branded me, (almost) broke me. I'm celebrating/documenting that decade. Maybe you'll hear your own voice here. Maybe not. But take the journey. FOLLOW ME ON THIS. I promise revelation.
