Where does one draw the line between science and faith?

Dr. Charles Hemphill, a prominent psychiatrist, has been called to South Pines Treatment Center to assist in the case of a patient who refuses to talk with the doctors there. His initial belief is that Christine, his mysterious patient, is suffering from an unusual form of schizophrenia.

Christine reveals to him that she has been given a mission, that she is there for him. But what is her mission, where does it come from, why did it bring her to South Pines, and how does it involve him? Can Charlie determine if the voices she hears are really manifestations of a psychotic state or is something more bizarre occurring?

Charlie’s future hangs in the balance as he tries to unravel the truth of Christine’s affliction. The Prophet follows his journey through the twists and turns of her mind, sometimes comic, other times tragic, to arrive at a truth neither of them expect.
