Charmian London kept a journal during her trip to the South Pacific with Jack on their sailboat Snark. Jack went on to publish his version, The Cruise of the Snark, while Charmian later released her version, The Log of the Snark. She details, day by day, the trials, challenges, and joys of sailing a small boat through mostly wild islands. She describes the effect of civilization encroaching on the native Islanders. The book is of interest to sailors and navigators, as it portrays the problems of navigating through those waters, including the perils of navigation, storms, lack of water, and disease. Her version is an entertaining tale complete with many photographs she took on the trip.
