Days with Sir Roger de Coverley

Originally published in John Addison and Richard Steele's British daily "The Spectator" in 1711-1712, "Days with Sir Roger de Coverley" is a series of witty tales of morality focusing on the life of the fictional squire Sir Roger de Coverley. The author's narrator, Mr. Spectator, is invited to spend a holiday with Sir Roger and he uses his leisure time to observe and comment on the habits, foibles, and social faux pas of the country gentry.
