This is the updated and expanded first book in our Writing for Children and Teens series (originally entitled How to Write a Children's Book). This new version is called Writing for Children and Teens, | Book 1: Story Writing Basics and comes to you from the Institute of Children's Literature, a writing school established in 1969. It contains basic tips on writing for children and teens, whether for books, magazine articles, or stories. We've included information on where writers get their ideas, how to know the age of your reader, writing basics, five good tools that can get you into trouble, various checklists, and more. The series is published by the Institute of Children's Literature and the Institute for Writers. The two schools have been teaching college-level courses on writing for children and teens since 1969 and 1989, respectively.
