DR. LINDA CAPUTI is Professor Emeritus, College of DuPage, after teaching over 27 years. She has taught in LPN, ADN, BSN, and MSN programs. She has won six awards for teaching excellence from Sigma Theta Tau, is included in 3 years of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and was nominated for the Outstanding Teacher Award in 2005 from the National League for Nursing. She won the Educator of the Year Award in 2004 from the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing Foundation.
Linda Caputi is President of Linda Caputi, Inc., a nursing education consulting company. Dr. Caputi has consulted with hundreds of schools over the last 20 years on topics related to revising curriculum, preparing for accreditation, teaching students to think, developing a concept-based curriculum, transforming clinical education, writing test items and test construction, using an evidence-based model for NCLEX success, and numerous other nursing education topics. She has conducted hundreds of faculty development workshops, spoken at numerous nursing education conferences, and given many keynote addresses over the last 30 years.
Dr. Caputi co-authored Mastering Concept-Based Teaching: A Guide for Faculty with Drs. Giddens and Rodgers published by Elsevier. Dr. Caputi has edited four books published through the NLN in the last 4 years and has written numerous book chapters and journal articles. The 2nd edition of her book Teaching Nursing: The Art and Science won the 2010 Top Teaching Tools Award in the print category from the Journal of Nursing Education.
Dr. Caputi is the editor of the "Innovation Column" in the National League for Nursing’s journal Nursing Education Perspectives, is a Certified Nurse Educator, was inducted as a fellow into the NLN’s Academy of Nursing Education, and has served on the NLN’s Board of Governors as well as numerous task forces and committees for the NLN. She is currently a site visitor for the NLN’s Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).
