Author John James Stroud is a native of the Bitterroot Valley in western Montana who is now fondly called "Johnny Bitterroot Seed" because his efforts to save and rehabilitate Montana's state flower, the Bitterroot, which has not fared well in the face of continued development of the land on which it thrives. This book is a fascinating account of a life that led John Stroud into this effort.
