January Joyce had always wondered why nothing useful is taught in high school. She was promised that later on in life, calculus and history would serve her well, but as it turns out, when your whole world turns upside down in an instant and the fate of the earth rests in your hands, nothing you've ever been taught is going to make a difference. Well, except biology, in January's case. The congenital terminal illness that lay dormant for so long in January's body is so severe that she is selected for genetic alteration by four recombinant teenagers, and promptly chased after by their creators. Soon, Jasper, January, Dante, Kailea, and Victoria James are on a quest to save the world from an irritated mad scientist with a modern-day Noah's Ark complex and the means to annihilate the human race...and the adventure is only just beginning.
