Generating Hope: Stories of the Beausoleil Louisiana Solar Home

Generating Hope: Stories of the Beausoleil Louisiana Solar Home documents the BeauSoleil solar house designed and built by the team from UL Lafayette, first-time competitors in the 2009 Solar Decathlon in Washington, D.C. Three narratives structure the book. First, there is a chronological narrative of the two-plus years of the project and its aftermath. It is a compelling story of planning, execution, and serendipity. Next, the book provides valuable and readily implementable sustainable home design strategies that were employed in the Beausoleil Home, both things that worked well and the things that didn't work so well. Finally, and most importantly, this book is about the people of Beausoleil Home--the TEAM that designed and built the home and the partners in the university and community that supported the effort.
