Samantha McCall might look like a hot and spicy romance author, but she writes murder mysteries as 'Sam' McCall. She dreads agreeing to appear last-minute on a popular nighttime TV talk show, knowing the host's reputation. Acid-tongued talk-show host Tony Garrett hates the mystery genre and despises the writers even more. Before seeing the author about to appear on stage with him, he maligns 'Mr.' McCall as a hack.
