Turn It The Other Way
Description:
"The basis for this book is the "Wall" model for recovery. This model is the culmination of years of work in the field of abuse recovery. This model was developed by doing something fairly simple. Listening. Listening to myself and my own process of healing, and listening to every person that came to me in my professional capacity as a therapist." Lana Wall MSW, PhD. Lana Wall holds a Masters in Social Work from the Ohio State University, and a PhD in Psychology from the Union Institute. She has worked in the fields of Drugs and Alcohol and Violence against Women since 1977. She founded the Lighthouse, a battered women's shelter in 1979 in Lancaster, Ohio. In 1988, she established the Alpatha Healing Center, a counseling center with emphasis on Drugs and Alcohol, Childhood Abuse Issues, and Gay and Lesbian Issues. Lana developed the Wall Model for Recovery after many years of personal development and working as a therapist with a wide variety of clients whose current situations found basis in childhood trauma. She has lectured extensively around the country on issues ranging from women's recovery to battered women to HIV issues. Her personal involvement in the lesbian community has given her great insight into issues of discrimination and civil rights, and her Native American heritage has given her a caring and respect for the Earth and all her creatures.
