The Legend of the Forest
Description:
An old legend persisted amongst the early Indian tribes of the Northeast. They called it the Legend of the Forest. It told of an ancient, sacred treasure located deep within a cave near Lake George (a long, slender lake joining Lake Champlain along the New York, Vermont border). This book explores two separate but linked attempts to unravel the mystery behind the legend. The first is by a young Mohawk Indian brave in the 17th Century. The second, some 400 years later, is by two modern-day youths. Their connected quests, and what each uncovers, make fascinating reading. Initially set in the early stages of the French and Indian war and subsequently thrust into todays time frame, this two part tale grabs the reader and doesnt let go. While the storyline is fictional, all historical and geographical references are real.
