Grapeshot and Shamrocks a Historical Fiction of the Civil War

Grapeshot and Shamrocks is the story of the saddest kind of war: Civil War. From 1861 to 1865 America tore herself apart as her own sons killed and maimed one another on a scale never before seen. This work of historical fiction is written from the prospective of a squad of soldiers who fought and bled from the first glorious days after the firing on Fort Sumpter when men chose sides and followed their flag into the great unknown of battle. From the streets of Baltimore to the grinding, bloody, end at Appomattox, Paddy Tobin and his comrades fought in every major battle in the Eastern theater of that great war. McNiff has combined his love of storytelling, history, and for his hometown in writing Grapeshot & Shamrocks. Although the events described in this story are true, the characters, except those of historical significance, are fictional. Many of the stories of Acton during this period are folklore, accepted as gospel by most of the old townies.
