This book is a tribute to and celebration of the distinguished career and achievements of Stuart W. Phyrr during his 42 years in the Department of Arms and Armor of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It presents a collection of essays by an international group of scholars from the postwar generation, who revitalized the subject in the late 1950s, to the current crop of museum professionals.
