Creating choices: A creative prevention program for youth
Description:
Use this art therapy program with your upper elementary and middle school students. This innovative substance abuse prevention curriculum combines group process, life skill development, and creativity for groups of eight to ten students. Materials are provided for ten to sixteen sessions, approximately one hour in length, with additional group activities, games, and community service projects suggested. The creative expression through art-related activities are designed to enhance self-esteem, increase positive peer interactions, identify and express emotions, reduce stress, and provide positive alternatives to drug use.
