Description:

DESCRIPTION: Statistics is for people with a limited mathematics background who want to learn the material covered in a traditional college statistics course and for people who want to learn statistics to enhance their career. Each learning unit of Statistics begins with a concise topic outline (usually 2 pages). Keeping descriptive material to a few pages makes learning difficult concepts easier. Each topic outline is followed by a one- or two-page practice set and one or two pages of Quick Questions. The order of practice problems follow the topic outline so students need look back only 2-pages to about the same page location of the topic outline to get help when doing a problem. This similar format is followed with Quick Questions. Learning units are divided into four parts. Each part ends with a formula review and a test.

The Professor's Answer Book provides complete solutions to all practices set problems, Quick Questions, and test questions. These complete solutions help a student understand difficult concepts.

This book is part of The Quick Notes Series. This series is for people who want help with college accounting, economics, and statistics courses and for people who want to advance their career by learning more about business. Only the most important concepts are explored by books of The Quick Notes Series. Except for the PeachtreeTM book, important concepts are presented with 1- and 2-page learning outlines. Minimizing descriptive material makes learning difficult concepts easier. Practice problems or quizzes are provided. Complete solutions, not just answers, explain difficult concepts.

The case problem approach to learning is used by the Financial Accounting and Statistics books. Each book does this in both their learning outlines and practice problems by exploring a continuous problem (case) depicting how Darin Jones and Linda Smith use accounting and statistics in the operation of their businesses. While in college, Darin opens a small laundry business and Linda opens a small ironing business. Upon graduation, Darin opens Darin's Music Emporium and Linda opens Linda's Video Showcase. Both business are very successful, bring in new partners, and are eventually sold for a large profit. Darin and Linda use their profits to open corporations named Future Horizons Corporation and The Computer Warehouse. Each book contains complete solutions and not just answers. These solutions can be read in about an hour and represent business cases depicting how Linda and Darin used accounting and statistics to help operate their businesses. When read in sequence, the learning outlines can also be thought of as a case.
