King of the Light Railways

Many of today's UK heritage railways shared a common ancestry - having been established by charismatic entrepreneur Colonel Holman F Stephens. These include Kent & East Sussex, Ffestiniog, Welsh Highland, Rother Valley and East Kent Railways. The colonel opened lines where no large railway company could or would, and established an impressive portfolio of lines during the early 1900s. This publication tells his remarkable story.
