From Clare to Texas
Description:
This book is a work of fiction; all of the characters are fictional, as are the scene locations. Emigration itself is very real and true to life. I have tried as best as my memory allows, bringing to light the hardships of emigration in the late 1800's and early 1900's and allowing the story to be near present time as can be noted by the manner of which in travelling overseas. Though some of the events, within this story, that occurred came from Mary's reminiscing and how emigration affected some individual family members through disappointment, heartbreak that would linger in one's own mind down the years in a deafening silence. In part two of the story, the young Texan is seeking to locate his roots on both sides of his house. He encounters both sadness and happiness in equal measures. He has come to the conclusion that only in America could the rich and poor people connect faithfully for better or worse. Inspiration was derived from some of my own relations who experienced emigration, plus my own Aunt who sponsored me out to New York in the 1950's sadly some of these memories have died along with my relatives.
