St Laurence's Church, Ludlow

This is partly a book about a historic parish church: its architecture, its furnishings and its stained glass. It is, even more, a book about the people commemorated by its tombs and monuments, its rectors and other clergy, and its parishioners. Meticulously researched, engagingly written and richly anecdotal, it also sheds light on relations between church and townspeople through the dramatic events of history.
