The Head Girl at Melling (Melling School)

Roddy is now the oldest Blake at Melling, and Franny, the new head girl, is “nothing like” the previous head girl, Libby Lacey. With such an attitude, life is not easy for her. To make life more difficult, the juniors form a Down with the Sixth society. Its activities come to an end when Franny proves to the members that, with a little backing, she is the right head girl for them. There are hockey matches, school rags, small quarrels and jealousies, and finally, the school play. And behind the school term, we are involved with the Blakes and the Laceys in their home life. This is a story which is full of fun, and in which there is real character development.
