An interpretation of the decline of Gaelic piping, attributing it to the dramatic depopulation of the highlands in the 19th century. Gibson traces the history of bagpiping in the New World and gives examples of traditional bagpiping and dance in Gaelic Cape Breton. He argues that these anachronistic cultures form a link to the Scottish culture.
