The Iron Sherpa: v. 1: The Story of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway 1879-2006

"The Iron Sherpa" embraces a more in-depth study of the DHR, with a large proportion of entirely new information, illustrations, drawings and detailed maps. Of particular importance is the additional research and fieldwork done on the two other long-defunct branches of the DHR, the Kishenganj and the Teesta Valley Extension lines; the latter being equally as impressive as the DHR mainline in terms of the terrain through which it ran and the magnitude of the engineering involved.
