Sacred Grove: The Mysteries of the Forest

The veneration of trees was a predominant theme in the paganism of the Romans, Greeks, Celtic & Germanic peoples. Many of their rites took place in sacred groves and their symbolism often involved the cosmic tree-its branches supported the heavens, its trunk was the centre of the earth and its roots penetrated the underworld.
