The Civil War in Greenbrier County, West Virginia

From the dust jacket: Although strong Union sentiments characterized Greenbrier County's antebellum history, when the Civil War came, the majority of her citizens were Confederate in sympathy. Greenbrier County used her wealth to arm and equip approximately 2,000 men and boys for Confederate service. This number represented approximately 805 of her male citizens who were of "military age" at the onset of conflict.
