Beaded Bags and More
Description:
The beaded bag, today's popular accessory, saw its full development in the 1920s when the knitted, crocheted or woven beaded bag was a necessity for both formal and informal wear. The bag could be embellished with any of the many ornate frames then available, or they could be without frame and maintained with a simple draw string closure of beads, chain or cord. This volume includes a selection of popular instruction books of this period, illustrating the rich designs popular during this period. Where charted, the patterns can be used for knitting, crocheting or weaving. Realizing that none of the illustrated frames are available today as catalog items, many similar frames can be found through antique and collectable outlets. It is also possible to adapt many of these patterns to frames which are readily available.
