Expression Obsession: Poetry in Spanish, English and Spanglish
Description:
A poet, singer/songwriter, engineer, husband, & father of two, Paul Aponte expresses his life, love, & passion within this bilingual composition; Expression Obsession. His collection captures the romance & realities of the Mexica. Touching on cultural upbringings, his words take the reader on a voyage of love, deep feeling, real life & historical reflection. Paul was born in San Jose, California, March 6, 1959. His childhood in Nonoalco, Tlaltelolco, Mexico D.F., near ancient Aztec ruins, led to his love for the Mexica. Finding himself in the midst of an armed conflict between the 'estudiantes' & 'granaderos' made him realize early on how fragile life is. His teenage years in the San Francisco Bay Area brought him face to face with the dichotomy of pluralism & racism, of opportunity & hopelessness. His 20s were spent in Tucson, Arizona, reconnecting yet again with another dispossessed people - the Native Americans - making a new connection with the honest beauty of their people & desert. His 30s have been spent back in the San Francisco Bay Area where he has brought all these experiences from thought to paper. Expression Obsession invokes images of love & passion for life, through poetry in Spanish, English, & Spanglish.
