An excerpt from the book's Introduction: "This book is divided into three major sections. Section I examines the concept of peace in the three Abrahamic religions. Section II considers obstacles to breaking cycles of violence. Section III looks at keys to creating a world culture of peace. Section IV tells about women who are engaged in peacemaking, and a concluding chapter focuses on peacemakers' own inner peace through contemplative prayer. One caveat. If this work appears Christocentric, readers should keep in mind the intention of Shalom, Salaam, Peace. It has been written by a Christian clergywoman primarily for Christian study and discussion. My efforts are in devotion to the Christ, who prayed 'that they may all be one' (John 17:21). Jesus revealed God's extravagant love. Facing death he prayed: Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them. (John 17:25-26, NRSV)"
