CLARENCE JOHNSTON was Minnesota's most prolific architect. As Minnesota State Architect for thirty years, he designed virtually all the buildings on thirty-five state-owned campuses including the University of Minnesota. He was also the most sought-after residential architect for two generations of St. Paul's upper classes.
