Houses in Time: A Tour Through New Mexico History

Houses in Time is like no other book on New Mexico architecture. While it pays homage to the legacy of adobe, the book also acknowledges the role of newcomers who built houses in a dizzying array of styles. Featured in handsome photographs accompanied by brief, informative essays are eighty-eight houses from all over the state, beginning with prehistoric pueblo dwellings and encompassing adobes, bungalows, ranch houses, and a variety of unique structures, the most recent of which are a passive solar rammed earth dwelling and an owner-built house constructed with the help of Habitat for Humanity. Also included are a glossary and bibliographic essay.
