No history of the modern world-from the Industrial Revolution, to the invention of the steamship, the beginning of flight, to the Model "A" Ford-would be complete without the inclusion of the important role tugboats and their crews have played. This book is the culmination of visits to 30 United States seaports on all three coasts and Lake Michigan, including eight of our top twenty in terms of tonnage handled.
