Description:
Iris Berry grew up in Pacoima, California and started writing poetry at the age of 7, when her primary influences were Dr. Suess, Jim Morrison and Allen Sherman. Ten years later, she arrived in Hollywood with aspirations of becoming a stripper. Instead, she ended up in several bands (The Lame Flames, Ringling Sisters, Pink Sabbath), several films (Border Radio, The Running Kind), and several bars (tending them). It was in the Ringling Sisters, with Pleasant Gehman, that Iris blended music and poetry, leading to the album 60 Watt Reality on A&M Records in 1990 ?New Alliance Records is set to release her solo spoken word debut Life On The Edge In Stilettos, produced by Harvey Kubernik, in late '94. Iris presently does readings in Los Angeles and San Francisco and is involved in fundraising for several L.A. charities.
